Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 6,12-16
Jesus departed to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God.
When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named apostles:
Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,
Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called a Zealot,
and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
God chose you
1) Prayer: How interesting to see how Saint Luke highlights prayer in the Gospel. To pray is to meet yourself, to seek that harmony with you, with God, and with all of God’s creative work. It is having that space of silence, solitude, and the presence of God. It is the space to find yourself. I ask you to look for that space and that moment. Find it and defend it. That time is the time of great investment in your life… do not change it or put it aside. Take that time to let yourself be taken by God.
2) He called them: Jesus, after praying, makes a decision; because you need to learn this from Jesus: decisions are made in good time and never in a rush. Knowing how to look, which implies deciding for something and acting on it. I know that you have to make decisions, and I also know that fear and doubt appear. Jesus must decide for those who will accompany him all his life, but security was given to him by that prayer that we talked about above. I propose that you write down the decisions you have to make in your life in your notebook or on your cell phone. Write them down and look at them. I assure you that over time, you will change the looks and the weights that each decision represents. But: “he who does not risk, does not win …”
3) Work: After praying and choosing, you will work. Jesus shows the boys what the life he would lead entailed. May this be your daily life: pray, decide, and work. They are the three axes of your day. Forge your heart in God and do not escape these three things: pray to have the peace of God in your heart; decide to frame your future happiness, and work to remember that everything is achieved with effort and pure dedication to your ideal.
God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
