Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 14, 21-26
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Whoever has my commandments and observes them
is the one who loves me.
Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”
Judas, not the Iscariot, said to him,
“Master, then what happened that you will reveal yourself to us
and not to the world?”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.
Whoever does not love me does not keep my words;
yet the word you hear is not mine
but that of the Father who sent me.
“I have told you this while I am with you.
The Advocate, the Holy Spirit
whom the Father will send in my name —
he will teach you everything
and remind you of all that I told you.”
To comply is to love
1) Compliance. In Christianity, religion is not mere compliance, it’s an act of love to enrich your relationship with Jesus. We are not meant to simply comply with the rules. Jesus does not have a checklist of whether or not you have fulfilled each item, He does not go around filling out an Excel list about what you do at every moment. Relax, Jesus does not work that way.
2) Faithful to His word. Following Jesus out of love leads to a way of life. We call this a spiritual life in which, through prayer, you reach the Lord and you receive the capacity to see everything from God’s point of view, through God’s eyes, as it were. It is finding answers to everything you are experiencing.
3) The Holy Spirit. Today, I invite you to begin a relationship with the Holy Spirit. In your prayers, ask Him for help to get closer to Jesus’ plentiful love and ask the Holy Spirit to inspire in you the love Jesus deserves from you. Do not forget to ask the Holy Spirit for peace and joy.
God bless you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Remember that Heaven is our goal.
